Bernard’s educational journey began at Eureka Senior High School in California, followed by an AA degree focused on Biology from the College of the Redwoods. He further pursued studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Bernard’s extensive training includes graduation from the Alaska Department of Public Safety training academy and advanced courses at Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, as well as the North American Conservation Law Enforcement Leadership Academy. His professional career is a testament to his continuous growth, spanning multiple roles within the Alaska Wildlife Troopers and the Alaska State Troopers, progressing from Trooper to Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, and ultimately to Colonel. His duties have included enforcement of state and federal laws, supervision of large teams and assets, oversight of training and operations, and serving as a liaison to various regulatory boards.
Bernard is recognized for his leadership, communication, and management skills. He is adept at handling substantial responsibilities, demonstrating a stellar work ethic, and providing exemplary customer service. His certifications include advanced police certificates, firearms, defensive tactics, and vessel operations. Bernard has received numerous awards, including Supervisor and Trooper of the Year. Bernard holds a "SECRET" clearance from the United States Department of Homeland Security, reflecting his commitment to security and ethical leadership.
