Joel K. Sims
Security Director
Joel K. Sims is a highly accomplished security professional with more than 36 years of experience spanning federal law enforcement, corporate security, and security operations management. As Security Director for Denali Universal Services, he oversees security operations, contract performance, and client relationships across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Indiana, supporting some of the nation’s leading energy and industrial organizations.
Throughout his career, Joel has demonstrated a proven ability to develop and lead high-performing security programs, manage complex operational environments, and deliver exceptional client service. He currently provides strategic oversight for DUS security contracts serving major energy clients to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client security objectives.
Before returning to DUS leadership in 2022, Joel served as a corporate Regional Security Manager where he directed physical security risk assessments, corporate investigations, and security planning for major oil and gas infrastructure projects. Earlier, he successfully launched and managed security operations for large-scale chemical manufacturing and energy facilities, including implementation of site security plans and workforce management programs.
Prior to his corporate security career, Joel completed a distinguished 26-year career in federal law enforcement with the U.S. Border Patrol. During his federal service, he led complex law enforcement and national security operations throughout the United States and Canada, served as Agent in Charge of multiple Border Patrol stations, and held senior leadership roles with responsibility for operational planning, intelligence, investigations, and risk assessment programs.

His extensive experience in security strategy, investigations, risk management, regulatory compliance, and team leadership enables him to deliver security solutions that protect people, assets, and business operations while supporting organizational success
